Office for Student Affairs

The Office for Student Affairs takes accuse of the campus life of the students, their welfare and subject, and dormitory facilities. Equally part of the University's mission to contribute to the formation of a progressive and humane society, the University of Santo Tomas offers a comprehensive scholarship program categorized into four (iv) schemes:

Academic Scholarship

SANTO TOMAS SCHOLARSHIP (Academic Scholarship)

This scholarship, named after the Patron Saint of the University, is given to students with fantabulous academic functioning.

Equity Scholarship

SAN MARTIN DE PORRES SCHOLARSHIP (Equity Scholarship)

This scholarship, named afterward the Dominican Patron Saint of the poor, is extended to deserving students in need of financial assist. The approval of this scholarship is discipline to the availability of funds/ slot/due south per faculty/college.

San Martin – Internal Scholarships

  • Sta. Rosa de Lima Fund (for Freshmen/Grade xi)

Scholarship for the Gifted

SANTO DOMINGO DE GUZMAN SCHOLARSHIP (Scholarship for the Gifted)

This scholarship, named later the Founder of the Social club of Preachers, is given to students who excel in arts, music and sports.  For Inferior and Senior High School, only athletes may qualify for Santo Domingo Scholarship.

Student Assist Scholarship

SAN LORENZO RUIZ SCHOLARSHIP (Educatee Help Scholarship)

This scholarship is given to students who are in need of fiscal assist and who are willing to render assistance for xx to 30 hours per week in the University. The approval of this scholarship is subject field to the availability of slot/south or fund/southward per faculty/college/department.

Student Organizations Coordinating Quango

The Student Organizations Analogous Council (SOCC) is the umbrella system of all recognized college-based and university- wide organizations in the Academy of Santo Tomas.

With dedication to the University's 3C's, Compassion, Competence and Commitment, the SOCC tries its all-time to cater to all the extracurricular every bit well as co-curricular interests of all the students past providing avenues that aid develop their personalities, talents and skills with the aid of various student organizations and academic societies with which they are affiliated.

The SOCC envisions itself to be a potent instrument for the continuous evolution and innovation of students in view of the consistent demands of an ever changing academic environment and gild. The Assistant Managing director of the Office for Pupil Affairs serves as the ex-officio adviser of the SOCC. A co-adviser may be appointed by the OSA Manager.

Key Commission on Elections

The Central Committee on Elections (COMELEC) is ane of the academy-wide student bodies created under the UST Government Constitution. It is a collegial body composed of pupil-representatives from faculties, colleges, institutes, schools with a local student council.

The principal goal of the COMELEC is to determine the truthful volition of the electorate in choosing their student leaders for the Local Pupil Councils and the Central Student Council, and likewise to settle election issues and controversies. In all its activities and processes, the COMELEC post-obit the dictate of conscience and the pursuit of truth , shall always consider the protection of the rights of students as voter, equally candidate of a particular political party, as member of a party, with utmost regard with more than fundamental right to study.

The Pupil Welfare and Development Coordinator serves as the enforcement arm of the Office for Student Affairs (OSA) in his / her Faculty/College/Plant/School, in terms of: (1) maintaining order and discipline, preventing offenses, investigating pupil violations of University rules and policies as provided in the Student Handbook or other laws ; (2) monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the co-curricular and actress-curricular activities of Student Organizations; and (three) ensuring the safety, security, welfare and development of students.

1938 –Rector Fr. Silvestre Sancho, O.P. created the Function of the Dean of Women, with Dr. Consuelo Belmonte every bit the commencement incumbent.
